Centering the love of life through words and their arrangements as the ulti mate goal and merit of literature, Yi’s writing presents the panoramic view of an individu al’s life, woven intricately in a wide range of topics from power and conflicts, the collective vs. the individual, and the competition between language and society, to the collective psy che of Koreans as a psychological shelter from social suffering and its underlying complex emotions.
